Photographer Spotlight: John Carey at our next Decadent Corset Boudoir Event

There's only one week left to book!  Our spring Decadent Corset Boudoir evening is next Wednesday, May 8, here at the shop on 321 Linden St. San Francisco.  And yes, we do still have a few spaces left.  I realized the image we used when we announced this one doesn't really do justice to John Carey's beautiful portfolio.  This is our last photo night until August or thereabouts, so if you can make it, you really don't want to miss out!

John Carey has been shooting classic Dark Garden images since before digital was the standard (which was a large factor in our image selection - it's not simply a matter of having him email over a file for us to use).  Thanks to the magic of Google Plus, though, we do have a selection of his STUNNING photography in low-res over which you may drool.  You can view even more at that link than what I've posted here - clearly I had a hard time narrowing it down for you!

Don't be fooled by the fact that many of these images are in black and white.  We will be shooting and printing in full digital color (unless you request otherwise), and your image gallery for re-orders will also be sent to you in full color.

Call the shop at 415-431-7684 to book a session today.  I look forward to seeing you here next week!

Dark Garden's Makeover

We've had some big exciting changes in recent months, and they'll just keep on coming!  Did you know we're celebrating our 25th Anniversary next year?  So we felt it was time to update our look a little, inside and out.

Shop girl and production assistant Anthea paints it black.

We went a little nuts on spring cleaning, justifiably so, rearranging our on-site production area and re-painting our stairs and bathroom.  Anthea is clearly amped on change, as evidenced by this snapshot Autumn took of her as they worked.

We'll also be updating our website in short order, with a user-friendly shopping cart of ready-to-wear styles in popular fabrications.  To that end, we did a SERIOUSLY EPIC photoshoot with the amazing Joel Aron behind the lens; Sunny Drissia on makeup; hair by Jane Dougherty, Rosa at The Cutlery, and Autumn Adamme; and some lovely garments from Honey Cooler Handmade, styled by Autumn Adamme and Marianne Faulkner (which is to say, yours truly).

Over the weekend we blazed through over 20 corsets on 8 models, including some familiar faces as well as some new ones, and we absolutely cannot wait to show you the beautiful things we captured.  We tried to pull out all the stops on this one, and I'm not just talking about the exposure on Joel's camera.  (Sorry, I had to.)  We have our wonderful production manager, Kristin, to thank for much of our workflow as well as these beautiful behind-the-scenes snapshots.
